Confident, Safe Driving for Life.

Overview
You will start with an introduction to driving safety and car controls, setting off and stopping, before progressing to junctions, roundabouts, traffic lights and then putting this in to practice in town and on rural roads. Finally, moving to independent driving (using both road road signs and SAT NAV) and the parking manoeuvres.

The Car
Your lessons will take place in a 'best in-market', dual-controlled Volkswagen car.  The vehicle is extremely comfortable, has excellent all-round vision and a wide range of driving assists such as an electric handbrake, auto hold, park assist and auto tilt mirrors on reverse. Learners have given it great reviews.

Where lessons will take place
Your lessons will initially start in quieter areas (housing estates and side roads) and build up to busier areas with more traffic.  At the end of each lesson we will discuss what has gone well, areas for development and decide on the plan for the next lesson, allowing you to know exactly what to expect in your next session.

How you will learn
Learning to drive should be exciting - keeping your progression and needs at its centre. The approach at David Hamshaw Driving School is not just about teaching the driving test standards (passing your test).  Our focus is concerned with CONFIDENT, SAFE DRIVING FOR LIFE! This means we will use a mixture of traditional instruction techniques (telling you what to do), as well as using a ‘coaching approach’. This method increases your level of awareness and responsibility, whilst developing your self evaluation skills. This is a critical element which will increase your  progression during your lessons and will promote safe driving after you have passed your test.

Monitoring your progress
You will be given a pupil handbook to keep a record of your progress and achievements.

"I had David Hamshaw as my instructor and he was the best I’ve had. He taught me everything about driving and how to drive safety, he got me through my test couldn’t have done it without him."
